CHILD KILLED

Betty Ryaill, aged seven, was struck by a motor car when running across the road near her home at Dairy Flat last evening and died of her injuries in Auckland Hospital this morning.

Roy William Godding, 36, a salesman, was to-day ordered to be extradited to New .South Wales on a charge of stealing a car valued at £2OO, the property of an assurance society.

Searchers engaged in looking for Harold Goodman, who is lost on the Tararua Ranges, now number approximately fifty, and over the week-end a wide area of country was thorough y combed, without finding the slightest trace of the missing camper. He is now a 'week overdue, and it is understood that the searchers will be recalled to-morrow, iivniess circumstances warrant ! otherwise.
LOG CRUSHES WORKER
TE AWAMUTU, January 21
Archibald G. Drummond, aged 55, a married man, was fatally crushed at Smyth Bros, and Bowyer’s sawmill, at Arohana, 25 miles from Te Awanuitu, this morning. The deceased was unloading a large rimu log off a truck on to the mill skids when i t slipped, and before Drummond could jump clear, it bad crushed him, death being instantaneous. He leaves a widow and a. son.
