KISCH CONVICTED

AS PROHIBITED IMMIGRANT. i (Australian Tress Association.) SYDNEY, Jan. 21. Egon Kiscli, tlie Czechoslovakian, who came as a delegate t 0 the AntiWar Conference, was to-day convicted of being a prohibited -immigrant. Sentence was deferred until to-morrow. Following Egou Kisch’s conviction, by the Police Magistrate, Mr Shepherd, an application was made to Mr Justice Evatt, in the High Court for a rule nisi restraining Mr Shepherd from proceeding further. Mr Justice Evatt declined to deal with the application until the completion of the Police Court proceedings to-morrow. Mr Justice Evatt, however, granted a rule nisi calling upon the proprietors and editor of the Sydney Morning Herald to show cause why they should not he committed for contempt of court respecting the publication of matter tending to prejudice Kisch at the recent Police Court proceedings. Argument on this matter was adjourned till January 29, owing to the absence of the “Herald’s” leading counsel.
