.'.-I' STEAMERS FOR JAPAN

.Per Press Association, Copyright). AUCKLAND, Jan. 14The steamers Kaniata and Kaimanawa,which left port at 8.30 on Friday night for Japan, have made no progress. They anchored for the night about five miles from the Heads, and on; Saturday afternoon /resumed the voyage the Komata towing th e Kaimanawa. This morning they were observed to return and anchor almost in the same position, it is surmised that they are still experiencing difficulties,but as the sea is calm, it is not clear why they should have returned.

BODY FOUND.

AUCKLAND, Jan. 14. A body, believed to be that of a youth missing since he left for work on Friday morning, Hubert Stanley Ellington Harrison, 18, was found this mornrig on the beach below the c|ifi' s near Kanaka Bay. Harrison, who was the son of a former chief postmaster at Auckland, left the home of relatives, where lie stayed, in the ordinary way, and there'was nothing to suggest an intention to depart from his routine.

WELLINGTON. January 14,

In March next. H.M.S. Sussex, the cruiser which brought the Duke of Gloucester from Britain to Australia, will arrive in New Zealand and she is expected to spend about a month or five weeks in these waters. She will then rejoin the Australian 1 fleet, with which she will remain until 1936, when she will return to Britain.

The Minister of Finance, Mr Coates, stated to-day that he was not yet in a position to make public the financial position of the country for the first nine months of the present financial year. He had seen the preliminary figures. and all he could say was that the position was quite satisfactory.

To-morrow night, Mr Coates will leave Wellington for the south to carry oat discussions with interested persons in Dunedin and Christchurch, and similar discussions will also take place in Wellington -.and Auckland.
