AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS. (Australian Press Association.) MELBOURNE, Jan. 14. With the women’s doubles play, which was interrupted by heavy rain on Saturday, the Australian tennis championships concluded to-day. Miss, es Dearman and Lyle defeated Mrs Hopnian and Miss Bickerton 6/3 6/4. The match was wholly replayed to-day. The British pair quickly ran up a 5/1 lead, Miss Dearinan’s anticipation at the net winning many points. Mrs Hopnian and Miss Bickerton made many errors trying to evade Miss Dearman at the net. The superiority of the British pair’s play was evident in long rallies, Miss Lyle creating many opportunities for Miss Dearman at the net.
