At the Tennis Championships yesterday, the attendance at Kooyong was a record, th o takings being £4OOO. After his defeat, Perry said: “It was not really a great match, but Jackkept getting a few more than I. This gave'him the victory. My chance went with the third set, when T led 3-1 and thought I h-’d made a winner —only to see the hall whizz back past me, clipping the line, and saving the match for Jack.
Asked why lie did not volley more, Perry, said that he found lie was volleying out of the court, so gave up this form of attack. He added that this might be the last time that he and Crawford would meet.
By making a fighting recovery, alter dropping the first set, Miss Round defeated Miss Lyle in the singles, winning by accurate net,-attack methods, and forcing drives.
