HOKITIKA MUNICIPAL BAND.

(To the Editor)

Sir, —During the progress of a concert in the street on the Saturday night preceding New Year's Eve, a collection was taken up purporting to he in aid of “the Band.” This was. interpreted by many to mean the Municipal Band. On behalf of the Municipal Band I wish to state that no collection was authorised by them, nor ws it taken up with their knowledge, and the proceeds have not been handed over to them. The Municipal Band makes but one collection during the year—Xmas morning —and the liberal response then made tides them over the year.

On behalf of the Municipal Band, I am, etc —

L. S. ROSS, Hon. Sec Hokitika 14tli Jan. 1935.
