England won the test match against West Indies by four wickets. The pitch was again drenched overnight. West Indies resumed at 3.30 ,in the afternoon on a wicket that was a gluepot, due "to the sun. They lost three wickets in a quarter of an hour. Thereupon th e West Indies captain, Grant, audaciously declared Die innings closed.

Excitement became intense as English wickets were falling when the visitors batted, hut Wyatt filled the breach, keeping up his wicket while Hammond knocked off the runs required. One of the most extraordinary test matches in history ended with a glorious sixer py Hammond.
