LAST SEEN BEYOND BREAKERS

WELLINGTON, January 10

A man, apparently a strong swimmer, was seen outside the breakers at Lyall Bay this morning, hut was not seen to come ashore, so a search was made and the police communicated with. Inside the bathing shed were found:—A grey suit, brown felt hat, tan boots, black shirt, gold Elgin, watch and chain, a brief hag, and a towel, but nothing to declare (lifis identity. Bangotlaii drome was communicated with, -and Captain Bolt flew over the locality but was not successful in locating the man. There was a moderate swell, hut the water was not rough. Visibility was not of the best, the waves churning un the sand, and the water having a muddy appearance. A search was also prosecuted by a row boat, but nothing was seen. The police are still searching.
