CHRISTCHURCH. December 6,

Some doubt whether a test match New Zealand v. the English women’s toiling team would eventuate, was expressed at a meeting of the Dominion Women’s Cricket Council yesterday, Miss A. King presiding.

Miss Robertson stated according to private advice, the visitors were regarding the New Zealand trip more as a pleasure cruise after a strenuous Australian tour and were unwilling to play a test match in the country. Miss Robertson further stated if a test match were arranged, Wellington definitely would not support it. They held the opinion that women’s cricket here was far below the English standard. Miss King, who had played cricket in England and knew most of the touring players,, (strongly 'deprecated this suggestion. She considered that although provincial sides might not be up to the standard, a Dominion team would provide stronger '(Opposition so that probably a test match would be the most enjoyable game of the piour. Uj would ’also (raise the status of women’s cricket considerably. The proposed itinerary that included a test match at Christchurch on February 16 and 18, had been drawn up hut nothing could he completed until information was received from the Englishwomen as to the number of games they were prepared to play.

Further arrangements for the tour were held over,.
