Counsel said robbery 'was not the motive. Evans had been meeting keen competition from the Self Help store, and he had brooded on this a nd other matters. It was partly his intention of retaliation that he visited the Sell Help store. He took a stick with him but covered it with rubber, so tnat he would do the man no lasting harm.
