KIDNAP MENACE
A RICH AMERICAN'S GUARD. Mr G. A. Robinson, of LismoreJ New South Wales, had an opportunity, durig a- recent visit to the United States, of discovering how rich men guard themselves and their families against kidnapping gangs. He w,as the guest of 'Mr E. L. Corde, an outstanding investor in American aviation companies. The entrance gate to Mr Corde’s home wag locked when Sr Robinson’s car arrived, and an armed guard carefully inspected the party before h;s ca r was admitted. Other armed guards patrolled the grounds. The residence was an arsenal. In every room there was a drawer containing an automatic revolver. As' a result of threats by a kidnapping gang, Mr Corde subsequently left the United States for. England.
