Cecil John Steer was sentenced to Six months’; hard labour by the Chief Justice. ,Stee r was found guilty on Thursday of negligently driving and causing bodily injury to’ George 'Kermode near Taw.a Flat, (Sir M. Myers did not cancel the driving license. He said He ! Would 'assume that the negligence, and drinking ■were isolated. He did not. doubt th t Steer was an exceptionally efficient driver. The accident happened in broad daylight, on a clear road. There was evidence of liquor having been iconsumed. There was a. failure to atop, and there was some suggestionof interference wTtli witnesses. After- counsel had addressed the court, Sir M. Myers said he would consider the interference of accused with witnesses as not having been p-oved, although the matter was suspicious.
