DETTON DEFEATS MEYER (Per "preja . Association, Copyright). AUCKLAND, August 5. Lively wrestling was witnesed in a professional heavyweight contest between Ddan Detton, list 71b and Fred Meyer, 15st, at the Town Hall on Saturday evening, wnen tiio former /won by the only fall gained. The bout went the full eight rounds. A fair attendance Was treated to a good display of solid wrestling, brightened at intervals by more spectacular work. Detton gained the winning fall in the second round in a very peculiar manner. Meyer had taken his opponent to the mat with a. head scissors and wristlock, but Detton 1 spun cleverly on his head to escape. Detton then gyrated across the ring on his back, hpiricing away from fjhe pursuing Meyer, and, as the latter bent down to apply ia f-esh hold, Detton caught his opponent in the stomach with his feet, flung him high in the air, and then' completed a fali with a body press.
