' • ' HASTINGS, August 5: ' An event unique in-the history of aviation fin', New Zealand took place this afternoon when Mrs Mary Ann A Adamson, who wifi be 101 in November, went for a flight with Miss Jean Ba.tten from the Hastings aerodrome. This was' Mrs Adamson’s third flight. . She made her first in her hundredth year with 'Mr Gerrahd, instructor to the Hawke’s Bay. Aero-Club - , and her 'second with Sir' Charles 1 Kingsford- y Smith in the Southern Cross. To-day the pilot dud passenger respectively were the youngest; and oldest life members of any one areo club, Miss Bat-,\. teri’ .was' appointed ,at' life membership on her arrival hero pn Friday and Mrs Adamson'some tiuie‘ago.* Miss Batten visited the War Memorial Hospital here this; morning;And will leave to-morrow for Gisborne.
