CHARGE AGAINST TWO MEN

Hook sails on the Huia on Monday, so his evidence was taken on deposition this morning.
Hook .said that in response to a telegram he left the lodgings at 10.30 for • the Post Office to send money to a •friend in' Lyttelton.,He .had two £5 notes-and: fifteen shillings "in 'silver. He met Reidy, whom he had known for five years. He told Reidy that ; he was I Jatter ; suggested a visit; ..to. affiotel, fbur ;;dfher‘/men acconiaanyißgrdhem. The hearing 0 was then adjobrned.
The Magistrate (Mr W. R. McLean) refused teiT'tp Keogh, remarking that had' he “heard the’facts yestedhy lie might' riot have allowed Reidy bail. 'The case was ’mentioned in Court yesterday, when 1 ' Reidy I ''was” charged and remanded, hail being allowed in the sum of : £2OO. • u •
