BOILER IN HOUSE EXPLODES. (Per Press Association.—Copyright.) CHRISTCHURCH, Ju'iy 9. The explosion of ia hot water boiler wrecked the drawing room and kitchen of Mr R. L. Jameson’s ’muse at Culverden. The -dividing wall between two rooms was shattered. It i s believed that the cause of the explosion was ice in the vent pipe, which had not thawed since the recent eokl weather.

N. Beattie, was taken seriously ill. with bronchitis. At Honolulu he was taken ashore, and put in hospital, his place on board being taken by Dr Thomas McVoagh. practising surgeon, of Honolulu. It is expected that Dr Beattie will be well enough to rejoin the Niagara- when she next ■calls at Honolulu on August 3.
