BANDITS’ CRUELTY BRUTALITY AND ROBBERIES. (Australian Pi ess Association). SYDNEY, July 8. Bandits committed two outrages in Sydney last night. At -Marrickville Alfred Reid, iaged ,20, an employee of u dairy, was attacked while asleep at his employer’s residence. His face was battered and bis .arms were twisted in an endeavour to force him to disclose where the week-end takings were hidden. Reid refused t« speak. The intruders succeeded in obtaining only four pounds from the ca®bbox. Alfred Edwards, an employee of the Hand wick Military Hospital, after spending the afternoon in the city, met two men who offered: to drive him home. The car sped in the opposite direction, however, .and Edwards was battered until he was unconscious, and was then hurled into some scruu.

He later was admitted to the hospital with head and face wounds, and a fractured jaw. He was robbed of a few shillings that he had with him.
