Consternation has been caused in G«a, the capital of the Portuguese possession of the same name, on the western coagt of India', where thieves have rifled the world-famous ancient church Of Bom Jesus, containing the body of •Saint Francis Xavier, the Apostle of the Indies. The thieves have removed valuables from the Church worth bany thousands sterling. The casket containing the remains of ■Saint Francis Xavier, which is sodded with precious stones, wa.s not touched, but the museum, which was filled with priceless offerings to thy Saint, w-,s stripped of diadems, chalices, and crowns, studded with precious stones.
