HEAVY RAINFALL

CAUSES FLOOD DAMAGE (Per Prefjs Association. —Copyright.) TE KUITI, June 19. The heaviest rainfall for years was recorded around Te Kuiti, when 1 3,63 inches fell for twenty-four hours ended at 9 o’clock this morning. The main road half -a mile north of Te Kuiti is under three feet of water and the railway houses 'are surrounded. There was .an extensive slip at Awawino Valley on' the main road, and service cars get through with difficulty. Slips ore still , falling. The road near Piopio is under water. A heavy slip occurred four miles past Waitomo, (and the road is blocked. The rain -has now stopped but tjhe river is still rising.
