ALI BEY DISPUTES DECISION. POLICE QUELL RING UPROAR. (Per Press Association, Copyright) AIUCKLAND, June 14. At the conclusion of a fierce wrestling niatch between Ali Bey, of Turkey and Charlie San ten. of America, at Hamilton, Ali Bey disagreed with the referee’is decision, and he created a senfiition by knockfirg his opponent te the mat with a blow to the chin. Before Ali could be persuaded to "uiolen down,- members of the poP’ce had to enter the ring, and the ,audij e*ce Was in an uproar. F.’om the opening round the match was characterised by heavy slapping to the jince, rabbit punches, and flying tackles. The referee then pushed Ali back into a corner and held him against, the ropes. Sever-] members of the audience went to the side of the ring, and, leaning over the ropes, they helped to pinion the Turk, who was still struggling violently. The SeniorRergrUnt and .a constable 'were in the ring, hut it was some time before Ali Bey, whose lace was streaming with blood, ceased to resist. He then retired quietly to the dressing roomTn the meantime, Santon had rechvev■ed a,nd left the ring, The incident occupied about three 'minutes, hut it was some considerable n time before the excited crowd left' the building.
WALKER DRAW'S WITH MEYER. AUCKLAND, Jure lb In the first meeting of George Walker and Fred ’Moyer* in New Zealand, under the Auckland- Wrestling Association, at the Town Hall tonight, each seeured a fall and the bout ended in a j'-nw. After 'a bright opening, the bout promised to provide a t-hr. iller but it ended tamely, find the packed house was disappointed. Hrrdreds were turned awlay, being unable to gain admission. Walker secured a fa’t in the sixth round with a. body press. Meyer evened' in the severth with on easy fall, a Vodv press. The final round was very tame.
