LIME PRODUCING
WEST COAST FARMERS’ COY. MEETING. At the annual meeting of the West Coast Fanners’ Co-operative /Lime Producing Company, there were pre sent: Messrs J. Mulonre (chairman) P. Smith (Ahaura), J. Thomson (Ross). P. Rytjfer (l.nchbonnie), P. Kennedy (Totara Flat), W. Murray (Greymouth). J. Cropper (Waitaha), J. Burrows (Ahaura), 1). Larkin (Rotomanu), IV. Fisher (Nelson Creek), W. Clayton (Ahaura), F. Jacob,s (Matai), and JJ. Mclntosh (Hokitika). Movng the adoption of the report and balance sheet the chairman stated every shareholder must feel satisfied with the steady progress that had been made and maintained during the pasi four years, particuelarly when conditions, generally, were recognised as being adverse to satisfactory trading. Jt was undoubtedly a tribute to the manner in which the company’s business was beieg conducted. Mr Burrows seconded the motion, concurring with the chairman’s view. Supporting the motion, Messrs Clayton and Cropper congratulated the directors and manager on the highly satisfactory result of the year’s operations, Mr Clayton remarking that, without lime, one could not hope to farm successfully. The motion was carried unanimously:'
It was resolved that, in future, only two directors resign and be eligible for re-election annually, instead of seven
as at present. Mr Clayton moved that Hie retiring Direct prs (Messrs (Mulicarel, Ryder, Fisher, Smith, Kennedy, Thomson and Mclntosh) be re-elected. This was seconded by Mr Murray and carried. Mr R. Wild, of Messrs Wild and Robertson Ltd., was again elected auditor for the ensuing term. Mi - (Dropper moved that in future each director be granted a fee of one guinea in addition to travelling expenses in respect of each meeting attended. Seconded by Mr Murray and carried.
Thanking the shareholders for their confidence in the directorate, the chairman said that it had been pleasing indeed to co-operate with such an agreeable body of fellow directors, whose sole aim had on all occasions been to /urthej* Ithe company's imprest's in every possible way. He was pleased to see Mr Cropper again present, and felt that it was nice to see at least one representative of the southern district at the meeting, and he greatly appreciated the fact that Mr Cropper wr r -. interest enough in the company’s welfare to get to Greymouth at the early hour at which the meeting had been held.
