KARL DANE'S TRAGIC END HOLLYWOOD. April 30. Karl Dane, comedian, who {gained screen fame in “The Pip Parade ’ and other silent pictures,, shot himself dead to-day. He was despondent over the failure of His film career and was penniless. His voice was not suitable for sound pictures. Dane returned to his former trade, that of a motor-ear mechanic, shortly after the advent of talkies, and later conducted a cheap lunch stand. At the height of his career Dane’s salary was reputed to he 1503 dollars a week.
