In the quarter-finals of the singles, Perry meets Mi hi, McGrath meets Kirby, Quist meets Prenn, and Chawford meets Boussus.
.Men’s doubles, second round: Crawford and McGrath defeated Stedman and Peters 6—3, 6—l, 4 —6, 6—3 ; Fujikiira- and Hopman defeated Graves and Morris B—6, 6—3, 6—l; Quist and Turnbull defeated Wheat.croffc and Wilde 6—3, 6—4, 6-3. McGrath was supreme throughout, with perfectly-timed double-handed ■backhand shots. Women’s doubles, first round: Mrs Miss Hartigan defeated Misses McOstrich and Whitmarsh B—6, 6 1. Third round: Mrs Hopman and Miss Hardwick defeated Mrs Lucas and MjjSS Harry 7—5, 4—6, 6—4.
