' Tlie Wolington City Council .litis decided to remove the Town Hall tower to roof level, and also to remove tho whole of the large portico, except the steps, and tho platform, as an. earthquake safety measure: The balustrades and ther ornamentation are also to be removed. The large clock in tho tower, presented by the late Mr John Blundell, will probably bo dismantled, and stored, as no suitable new position has; been suggested for it.
