Oars • will leave town at- 1.45 p.m. ■: A radio message received from the captain of the Gael this afternoon states the vessel will arrive at Greymouth this afternoon at 5 o clock and at Hokitika at 10 o’clock to-night. Cutbush had on view to-day an unusual fish that was caught with a herring hook at the mouth of the river last evening. The fish was 22 inches long, of the shape of a lamprey, and not more than three-quarters of an inch across at its widest part, 'being almost round, tapering slowly to the tail It has two fins, one near the tail and the other some. s rx inches • further along the, body. The mouth isj under the head, and round, not as' large as a sixpence, and appears sucker | shaped. There are seven air holes qrij. each side of the bo'dy, near the head, ( which lis sonic two incites long, and there appeared to he no scales. ; The fish was of a colour very much like that of la salt water eel.
