Mr A. Neville, chief protector of aborigines, informed the Royal Commissiion investigating the treatment of natives, that, while in the past, some aborigines may have been addicted to cannibalism, the practice was unknown to-day. Statements published abroad describing cannibalism, among the (blacks were based on erroneous information.
