import embargo relaxes
MORE DISTILLERS’ LICENSES.

WASHINGTON, November 9.
President Roosevelt to-day decided on the relaxation of the liquor importation embargo cabled on October 19, so as to permit the replen shing of medicinal supplies between now and the repeal of - prohibition. It is understood that thq President will also ask Congress for 'only a .moderate tax for liquor after prohibition •repeal, in an effort to discourage bootlegging. ; .; ' It is thought that 250 thousand gallons of liquor will be fixed for importation up to December 7. The President has also ‘favoured a liberal allowance of • distillers’, licenses immediately, in order, that sufficient whisky and wine mav be manufactured in bond to meet the expected demand.
