SERVICE CAR HITS CULVERT

OVERTURNS AND CATCHES FIRE

MELBOURNE; October 13

A service car containing thirteen women passengers, most for Canberra, struck a concrete culvert near Wuilan and overturned. It then caught lire. All of the passengers, however, were extricated before the flames reached them.

Eight of the women were injured, the majority having -broken bones, The remainder were all severely shaken, while the driver sustained facial injuries.

The accident was due to the burst-ing-of a tyre, causing the vehicle to swerve and strike the culvert with terrific force,
