MAN’S DEATH
FATAL FALL FORM A FENCE WITANGAREr, Oct. 10. As the result of an unusual accident three weeks ago, Dir Claude Dickey, aged 22, died in the Wliangarei Hospital last evening of cerebral hemorrhage.
Air Dickey found it necessary to climb a wireless mast at the home of bis parents, in order to repair some damage that had been done by wind, in descending he stood fqr a moment upon a wire fence, lost his balance and feel, the hack of his head striking the ground. At the same time one of his legs became entangled with the top wire of the fence. He remained partly suspended for some time—exactly how long is not known. Eventually he was found in an unconscious condition by his mother, who released him. A doctor was summoned and the patient remained at home under his care for the next fortnight. He then resumed his work as an assistant in the drapery store of Mr R. G. Hosking, but after three days he found it necessary to remain at home, where he appeared to be recovering. About 7.30 p.ra. yesterday he became worse and was taken to the hospital, dying an hour later. It is probable that an inquest will not be required.
