NAPIER VILLAGE SETTLEMENT. (Per Press Association Copyright .) NAPIER, October 13. Contracts have now, been let ior the erection of thirty-eight residences on an area of 250 acres on the Harboiu Board endowment land.! for the Napier village settlement. , promoted by the Govefnment under the' small farms scheme. The sections ! !on which tlie homes are to be I 'erected are approximately five acres each. The. settlers are chosen from the ranks of married unemployed. Much work.has already been carried out «n the arya, including the formation of roads, ploughing land, planting crops, also fencing and sinking artesian wells.
The contract time for the completion of the dwellings, each to be constructed to the requirements of individual families, is ton weeks'.' As a sequel to the letting of contracts, and much work promoted by the Number 10 scheme, two sawmills in the district have boon placed °u full time engagement.
