The accused,, who were Stated, by counsel to have been already dealt with by a Maori Tribunal at Wanganui, and fined £ls each, were Tono Whakateka, John Ivan Ryder, and Patu Hongounui, of Wanganui. SENTENCES AT WELLINGTON. WELLINGTON, Octobfer 12. Prisoners were to-day sentenced by Mr Justice Blair as follows: Alfred Arthur Stanley, breaking, entering, theft, and breaking arid entering with intent, four charges; Bruce Anderson (jointly charged with Stanley), reformative detention 110't exceeding two years. .
William Greening, attempted breaking 'find entering, and! breaking arid entering and theft, at Wairoa, three months’.
Raymond- Claude Hogg, five charges of breaking,' entering and theft, at Hastings, and a charge' of th'eff. at Napier, two years’ hard labour to he followed by reformative detention not exceeding three years ,the sentence being concurrent with a term now being served.
Forging a motor dK verbs license Frederick Walter Perry was convicted andj discharged. :and ordered to pay £1 Is costs. Perry had been stopped and ordered to produce his license, and the next day reported with one in which the date had been altered hack some days. His Honour regarded the offence as an act of _ foolishness or thoughtlessness. . , v
