A startling glimpse of future air warfare was provided hv the launching of the first of four “Perth” (lying bo ! at 3 ordered by the Air Ministry. She is armed at- the bows with ■a quick firing gun capable of discharging Ulb shells at the rate of one hundred per minute. iShe carries also three machine guns, and a two thousand pounds load of bombs, and weighs about fifieen tons. She has three Rolls Eovee ‘Buzzard” engines, each of 825-930 horse power. Her maximum speed will be 132 miles an hour, and her normal range 870 sea miles. It is incredible that her structure will stand the recoil of her bow gun, but thi s is effectively absorbed.
