AEROPLANE AND TRAIN SMASHES FATALITIES IN UNITED STATES. (United Progs Association—By Electric. Telegraph—Copyright.) EL PASCO (Texas). August 30 Two spectacular aeroplane accidents, and also a railway smash, resulted in tne loss of sixteen lives in the South Western section to-day. A train plunged through a bridge into a flooded river, near- Tucumoari, in New Mexico, and eight were killed and forty were injured. A passenger aeroplane wa s flying in ! a rainstorm near Amarillo, in Texas, j when it crashed, killing two pilots and i three .passengers. i Two army aeroplanes -crashed after j •a head-on collision, killing one instructor and two cadets. A second instruct tor leaped to safety in a- parachute.
