INQUIRIES FOR. MR W, ROBINSON

LAST /SEEN ON THE BEACH,

Since he was seen in th-s beach at the rear of Roper llevell Street about 9 o'clock last evening, nothing has been heard of Mr William Robinson, of Sewell -Street, and the - aid of the Hokitika police has been enlisted in an endeavour to discover his whereabouts, or what has occurred in the meantime.

Mr Robinson, is a married man, aged about 50 years, and is proprietor of Dee’s grocery. He left his home at about 7 o’clock last evening, with the spoken intention of attending , a meeting- in' town, and during the following two hours he was seen in the business 'area of Hokitika by several last occasion on which he-was seen being at 9.15 o’clock when he was. noticed on tne beach walking toward the tip-head, but since then the police Lave been unable to trace bis movements.

Concern was felt at liis home when he failed to return, and at 1.15 o’clock this morning the police were notified. Immediately upon receipt of the news, the police made a close search of the beach and adjoining grounds, the wharf, and the river, while the beacli has been patrolled throughout to-, day. Mi- Robinson has been in poor health for a considerable time past, though able to get about his usual occupation.
