BUTTER-FAT RECORD
COW’S FINE PRODUCTION
760L8. FOR THE SEASON
HAMILTON, May 22. .With a total of 7601 b. of butterrat in 298 days, Violet, a grade cow in the herd of Mr R. A. Candy, of Ngarua, has again shown the best production record of the 116,000 cows tested by the New Zealand Co-opcra-ti'e Herd-testing Association. Throughout the test period the cow was handmilked, and the only feed she received n addition t-o pasture was a small daily allowance of bran.
This animal has now eight records secured under group heiU-testing. Over a period of four years, when she was owned by Air L. Clarke, of Manawaru, she gave 24861 b. of butter-fat. she was purchased by tile present owner for £SB, which was considered a very high price for a grade cow. Since her purchase Violet has given Mr Candy 26141 b. of butter-fat in four years. Over a period of eight years she lias averaged 6381 b. each season. .
