OVERSEAS FIGURES DECLINE
BALANCE STILL FAVOURABLE

WELLINGTON, May 22 Figures for the overseas trade v<f
New Zealand for the month of April show that the exports were of a value of £3,894,041 and imports £1,470,571.
The figures for the some month last year were: Exports £4,957,535; Imports! '£1,760,(589. The Dominion exports for the four months ending April last were valued at £16,838,023 and imports £7,045,208. The balance in terms of New Zealand currency (excluding specie) was thus £8,023,000 For the corresponding period of the previous year, the figures were; Exports £16,447,136; imports £7,609,972; showing a balance of £7,700,000 in favour of exports. The values recorded for exports are declared f.o.b. values in terms of New Zealand currency, while the values recorded for imports are the current domestic values in the countries of export plus ten per cent.
