WELLINGTON, May 24

Fines amounting to £236 were imposed by Mr Page, oil sixteen Europeans and six Chinese i,arrested yesterday, in consequence of police raids «n four pnkapoo shops in Taranaki and Tory Streets.

Four occupiers were each fined £4O. One was fined £26 for assisting in the management of a gaming house. The Europeans wore fined £3 each.
