■When the required number of additional debentures was subscribed the directors lust no > time in having the reconstruction work commenced. Extremely wet conditions were met with from the outset. Local residents state that the rainfull has been a record one during the last few months. Due to floods prevailing at intervals, portions of the eih ban Inherit were brpken through on on fewer than three occasions. The embankment was within two days of completion at one stage, whoa another flood, broke! through. Thanks, however, to consistent attention and unreal itting. ..- labour when weather permitted, the damage has now been fully repaired and‘the embankment lias successfully withstood high Water during the last, two weeks.
