AWARD'S MADE AT' WESTPORT.

WESTPORT, May 22.
The Court of Arbitration- commenced its sittings here to-day, when a number of workers’ compensation cases were dealt with.
In the ease of Nelson v, the Westport Coal Company, tho plaintiff, a coal miner, who had boon injured in October, 1931, was awarded £341 19e, in addition to £175 10s 6d previously paid by way of weekly compensation."
Margaret Collins, the widow of Charles Collins, who was killed in the Westport Coal Company’s Millerton mine in October last, secured judgment for £970 13s 4d.
Albert McLean, a sawmill worker, a miner, was allowed £6l 17s 9d against his employers, Bowater and Bryan Ltd.-, in addition to £Bl 3s 4d paid by way of weekly compensations; and the Court held that the defendants were not entitled to deduct £44 17s 3d, the cost of treatment at the Queen Alary Hospital, Hanmer. In the erase of Colligan and the Westport Coal Company, in which tlie plaintiff, an engine driver, was injured in 'August, 1930, the Court held that, the plaintiff having settled his claim in January, 1931, had no reasonable cause for delay in commencing his action, and gave judgment for the defendant company with costs. The court will continue the sitting to-morrow.
