This thrilling story of ad-.enti.re and romance was written by Hairy Mersey, and dramatized by Jules Furcliman, who also wrote tne screen play of “Morocco,” M-.ss Dietrich s first starring pitcure made in America. Josef von Sternberg, maker of “Morocco" and “Dishonoured,'’ also directed “Shanghai Express.” r l he supporting cast is headed by Clive Brook, and Anna May Wong. Miss Dietrich plays the part of a notorious and glamorous woman of the world, while liroo-k portrays a British officer who meets her, after years of separation, aboard the Shanghai Express, . which is held up by a. Chinese bandit general, played by Warner Gland.
