Sir Henry Betterton (Minister.of Labour) informed the House of Commons jthat there were 91,000 more in employment than a month ago, and 02.000 more than a- year ago, Compared with last January the numbers in employment showed an increase of 24.909.

That meant, said the Minister, that in the year under review, when the trade of the whole world had been paralysed by * exchange* '.restrictions, and when there had been political disturbances and a monetary crisis in every country, the position in Britain was not only incomparably stronger than is, year ago, hut he thought the outlook was more encouraging than for a very long time.
