“KEEPER OF THE PANTRIES-”
. -'Mr. Charles Watts, Keeper of the Gold and Silver . Pantries at Windsor Castle,- has retired after 46 years’ service. He would normally have retired three years hence, when he would have reached the age limit of 7b, but illhealth has compelled him to resign his position. He retires on pension. 1 In December, 1886, Mr Watt fi joined the Royal Household, being appointed an assistant in the Silver Pantry at Windsor Castle. Later h P was transferred to Buckingham Palace, but returned m 1910 to Windsor to take charge of the Silver Pantry. He was made Keeper of the Gold and Silver Pantries in 1922.
Air Watts’ first important function was in connection with Queen Victoria's jubilee in 1887, and he has been on duty at m'any historic functions at Windsor Ostle when foreign monarch, were entertained. His flu'Dr- werp. to arrange the plate op the tables and see it returned to safe custody. He has been succeeded by Mr Alfred Elder, from the Silver Pantry at Windsor Castle. .
