Robert Henry Meaclem, aged 21, a labourer, who was 'remanded til Friday, charged with assaulting David Haiinuill, aged 48, and with causing bodily harm, ft was alleged that, late on Saturday, Meaclem, meeting Hammill on the street, engaged in an altercation finally producing a. knife and inflicting several wound's, not serious, but necessitating Hammill spending a day or so in bed. It is understood that Meaclem, w.io is on probation, objected to Hammill’s attention to a young woman.
