JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS

OAMARU, May 15
Waitaki Boys’ High School jubilee celebrations began oil Saturday. About 6(10 old boys, representing every district in the Dominion, and from Australia were present. The functions extended over three clays ending this evening with a ball.
Oil Saturday a big garden party wag held at the school, during which a memorial to Ah' J. Harknoss, the first rec tor, was unveiled, on a tree planted by him nearly 50 years ago. In the evening a dinner and smoke concert packed out the biggest hall in Oamaru. Among the guests were Mr Downie Stewart, and Mr W. Thomas, rector of Tiinaru' High School, proposed the main toast. Of 19 old boys who were attending the school opening, 16 are still alive and ten attended the celebrations.
There was an outing to Waitaki hydro works yesterday and to-day the roll call, and in the afternoon an aero display, sports and unveiling of a window in' the Hall of Memories, presented by Christchurch old boys, and a great war memorial cairn in the school grounds, also the presentation of the Gerald Keddell Memorial Shield by.representatives of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association.
Cabled greeting were received to-day from the Royal Ehipire Society of London.
