(Received this day at- 9.45 a.m.)

LONDON, May 14

The “Observer” says that it is ..becoming increasingly clear that an interval must be -allowed before the resumption of the cricket tests. “W.e are beginning to realise .the feeling in Australia. There is a strong feiglifih conviction that o-ur me n have not had justice, -consequently an early renewal would .serve neither in the interests of cricket nor Anglo-Austra-lian relations.’’

HOBBS DEPRECATES BODYLINE

IASHES LOST without it

(Received this dav at 10 a.m.)

LONDON, May 14

Jack Hobbs, in his latest article, reiterates his dislike of the body-line bowling, and says: “As seen bv me in Anstralia, more balls were pitched wide of the leg 'stump than on it. I deprecate the greybeards arguing that they in their youth would have s core d freely off the body-line bowling. I say definitely that' they would not - bnye done so against Larwood in Australia where it is not a question of good length balls rising quickly and hitting thighs and chest. Such things do not happen on Australian wickets. Larwood had to pitch short, and maintained such length and (Speed that nothing could be done with him. ‘‘Bradman wa*s even better than w e n he was in England in 1930, and had more and better strokes. I doubt whether England would hav*. won the Ashes without their body-li n e attack.’
