A CORRECTION.

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —On reading a local in your Saturday’s “Guardian” I noticed ,a local resident makes reference to ,'liis entering tho Haast river in the' s.s. Waipara is 1886, and it is not known of any other boat having entered there in the intervening 47 years. 1 would like to state this is partly not” correct, as 1 was in the s.s. Jane Douglas' when die entered the Haast river in 1903 and took away a load of fibre ’ ironi Levin’s flaxraijl, which was there at the time. Thanking you ' for your valuable space.—l am, etc., — A. I.
