WELLINGTON, April 19

At a meeting of the Dominion Executive 0 f the New Zealand Farmers’ Union ‘Tears were expressed that the proposed Central Bank might b e controlled by the financial interests. Captain F. Colbeck could not se e how a Central Bank was going to benefit the farmers of the Dominion. He said it would be extremely unwis e to hand ove r the sovereign rights of the people for 25 veal’s. The Executive decided to leave the question in the hands of a special committee.

The Minister of Finance, Mr Coates, wroto , s iabing that «dequat e safeguard was provided against the banks or other financial concerns obtaining control of the Central Bank.

The Executive decided to ask parliament to get up .a committee to make a full inquiry into th e present monetary system.
