CRICKET

HAMMOND’S SCORE OF 33G

COMMENT FROM ENGLAND

(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright)

LONDON, April 10.

The “Star” says that it is wrong to rate IV. R. Hammond’s score of 336 not out against New Zealand in Auckland as equal to Bradman’s 334 not out against England at Leeds in 1930. It recalls Hendren’s reminder, when the West Indies were attempting to put G. Headley ("West Indies) on the (same plane at Bradman and Hob..s, that the Anglo-Australian tests alone are the hall mark of cricketers. “Bradman’s feat will still he regarded as the greatest until it is surpassed in the premier Tests,” the Stai adds. “It is believed that Hammond is capable of ■surpassing it during Australia’s next visit to England.”
