PICTON MURDER

- CONDEMNED MAN’S APPEAL..

(Per Press Association— Copyright.)

AVELLINGTON, January 4

Though no official- ’decision has yet been made there is every likelihood that a special sitting of the Court of Appeal will be arranged early tfliis month for heaving the appeal by Edward Tarrant, under sentence of death for murder at Picton.

In view of the fact that in the ordinary course the Court or Appeal does not meet until March 13, an Or-dcv-in-C'ouncil may be issued to provide for a special sitting of the Court. Should this sitting not be arranged it would mean that the condemned man would wait in custody ior more than three months before consideration could be given to bis case.
