BOUND AND GAGGED
WOMEN ATTACKED 1 BY TWO MEN
MANAGES TO CALL THE- POLICE,
LONDON, November 18
Two men called at a house in Glebe Hoad, Barnes, and when a woman opened the door a revolver wa-s pointed at her. s Tbs men forced their way in, bound and gagged her, and then ransacked drawers, and cupboards. The house was that of Miss L. R. Newholm. She wa<s away on- business and the woman who was attacked, Airs Margaret Finchley, is a daily help. Airs Finchley told the police that she managed to wrench the gag from her mouth and-, by rolling along the- floor, reached the telephone and managed to struggle to her feet. She rang up the police my means of a, pencil clenched between her teeth, with which she dialled the number. The police found Mrs Finchley still with her hands and feet bound. About £5 in money is missing and some jewellery was found scattered about the'floor. A. neighbour said to a. reporter: “Miss Newholm had only just left the house after breakfast when I heard what I thought was.a scream. I did not take much notice, hut I did go to the end of the garden and look down the road. “I saw a- somewhat dilapidated car, in which were rough-looking men, driving away as if they had beeu next door.”
